Original Post: Axel Springer National Media & Tech’s success story
At the AWS Summit in Berlin, Michael Steiner, CISO of Axel Springer National Media and Tech, discussed the company’s partnership with Snyk in enhancing their security practices. Axel Springer is a prominent digital publisher in Europe, serving over 600 media brands and 3 million users. The company employs a flat team structure where development teams handle their own security and quality assurance.
Previously, Axel Springer struggled with inconsistent security processes and lacked comprehensive visibility into vulnerabilities across its applications. The Log4Shell vulnerability incident highlighted the need for better tools, prompting them to adopt Snyk’s services. Snyk Code and Snyk Open Source were integrated to enable early vulnerability detection and automated remediation across their development lifecycle.
The implementation provided Axel Springer with over 90% security scan coverage, bringing full transparency and continuous vulnerability fixes. Moving forward, they plan to leverage Snyk’s licensing compliance features and adopt a risk-based approach to prioritize critical vulnerability fixes.
